Screen play & Direction :   Chandoo Mondeti
Date of Release  :  7th October, 2016

There is a lot of curiosity on the telugu remake of Malayalam movie "Premam" which has become blockbuster in Malayalam.  The movie was a super hit in Malayalam and it is remade in telugu with same name.

The curiosity has picked after Naga Chaitanya and "Karthikeya" fame Chandoo Mondeti joined hands.  Casting of Shruti Haasan, Anupama Parameswaran and Madonna as female leads made the project something special.  This movie was released as Dussera special.  Let us see what is the story of the movie..

Story  :

Vicky ( Naga Chaitanya ) is a school student and is bewitched by the beauty Suma ( Anupama.  He follows her daily and makes friendship with her.  When he is about to propose her, he gets a shock from her.  His first love broke his heart.

When he joins college, he falls in love once again.  He falls in love with his college lecturer Sithara ( Shruti Haasan ) who also reciprocates the same.  When everything is going normal for him, he gets another shock.  Second time he gets a heart break.

A number of years are passed and he is now settled in life as chef and restaurant owner. and this time a girl very much younger to him comes to his life.

Performance of the artists  :

This movie is one of the good works of Naga Chaitanya till date.  He shown the variation to all the three shades of his character.  He is perfect as school student and also as a university student.  As an entrepreneur also he is convincing.  He has not the intensity like the original Malayalam hero, but was suitable for the role.

Shruti Haasan as a college lecturer performed well.  Both Anupama and Madonna have played the same roles that they did in the Malayalam movie.  Chaitanya and Praveeen acted well as Naga Chaitanya's friends.   Narra Srinu and Brahmaji's comedy is good.

Technical aspects of the movie  :

The music of the movie gives mixed feelings.  A couple of better songs in second half would have made a lot of difference.  Karthik Ghattamaneni's camera work is really decent.  Editing is very good.  Movie has rich production values.   Chandoo Mondeti as screen play writer and director did not spoil the original movie's content but he changed many things to make it more suitable for Telugu audience.

Majnu Movie Review - Nani Makes it

Movie Name  :  Majnu
Rating            :  3.00 / 5

MajnuBanner           :  Anandi Art Creations, Keva Movies
Starring         :
Nani, Anu Emmanuel, Priya Sri, Vennela Kishore, Sathya Krishnan, and others.
Story             :  Virinchi Varma
Music             :  Gopi Sunder
Cinematography : V S Gnanasekhar
Editing            :  Prawin Pudi
Fights             :  Anal Arasu
Art                  :  A.S. Prakash
Producer         :  Geetha Golla
Screen play & Direction :   Virinchi Varma
Date of Release  :  23rd SEptember, 2016

Nani is having great form with series of hit movies and every new film is creating  interest among the audience.  His dream run began with "Yevade Subrahmanyam" and continued till "Gentleman".  That means four hits in a row and two of them released in this year.   The movie "Majnu" also made the audience wait eagerly for the release of the movie.  The posters, promos and interviews with Nani generated a positive buzz..  So Nani has come up with another entertaining movie.  Let us see what is the story of this movie.

Story  :

Aditya is an assistant director working with Rajamouli for the movie "Bahubali".  He hails from Bheemavaram town.  He likes a girl in Hyderabad.  Her name is Suma ( Priya Sri ).  Even though he likes her, he does not forget his old girl friend.  One day he tells Suma how deeply he loved his Bheemavaram girl Kiran ( Anu Emmanuel ) and the reason for the breakup between them.  .Realizing his great love, Suma also starts loving him and asks him to come to railway station to meet her.  There he finds that Suma is receiving her cousin who turns out to be Kiran.  So what happens next?  is the story of the movie.

Performance of the artists :

As for as performance of Nani is concerned,  he is one of the most dependable stars in Tollywood for any kind of story.  He once again shines in this movie even though the movie does not give any scope for showing his acting skills.

Now coming to the two heroines,  Anu Emmanuel is beautiful and has a nice role.  Priya Sri lacks both glamour and acting skills.  Vinnela Kishore is OK in a small role for a brief period.  Both Director Rajamouli and Raj Tharun made guest appearance.

Technical Aspects of the Movie :

There are no much technical values in this movie but is eye-pleasing.  We can thank the Jnasekhar's cinematograpny.  The frames which are shot in very few locations are colourful. The entire first half is told in songs.  Some of the songs are very good.  Other technical departments have done average performance.  Dialogues by Kiran are OK

Highlights and drawbacks of the Movie :

Some of the highlights of the movie are   -  First Half,  Cinematography and acting of Nani
Drawbacks of the movie is the dragging second half..

Overall analysis of the Movie :

Virinchi Verma has proved his mettle with "Uyyala Jampala" by presenting a routine story in a lively manner.  He relies on same formula for "Majnu" also.  The combination with Nani worked nicely here.  Even though it is like watching a routine story, the narration is so pleasant and there is no dull moment in the movie.

Majnu is a love story with one hero and two heroines. Even though this is not a regular triangular love story, yet the story is quite routine.  It is very simple like this -  he loves girl A, but differences crop up and both of them split,  then  he meets girl B who fails for him but girl A comes back in his life and he realizes his feelings for girl A.

Even though the story is plain and simple,  the content dries up by first half and there is no further matter for the second half.  This is the issue with this movie even though the pre-interval are fun and entertaining.

The total first half of the movie is very much entertaining and enjoyable. After interval when Nani fails in the conflict with these two girls, the movie goes at an un even pace.  Some scenes are entertaining.   Overall the movie works fine and thanks to Nani for his effective charm and acting.

Nani has given his best for the role given to him to make the movie entertaining.  To impress Anu Emmanuel, he joins in her college as lecturer and there after how he woos her is quite interesting.  The student-lecturer love track has been dealt very sensibly and in a funny manner.  The movie has this kind of good moments in first half.

After the interval,  the comedy track between Nani and Vennela Kishore creates some laughs but it has side tracked the story and increased the length of the movie.  All in all it is a time pass romantic drama and watchable once.

Date of Release  :  September, 2016

"Janatha Garage" is one movie which every film lover is eagerly waiting to be released since it was officially launched only because of the combination of NTR-Mohan Lal - Koratala Shiva.

NTR has teamed up with hit Director KOratala Shiva for :"Janatha Garage"  after the success of "Nannaku Prematho".  The movie has created huge interest among the audience ever since it was announced and the interest hiked further with the casting of Malayalam super star MOhan Lal.

The movie generated huge expectations as the trailers have become popular and Koratala Shiva is in top form.  It is one of the biggest movies of the season,  and it has hit screens both in Telugu and Malayalam.  Let us see how the film has fared and what is the story of the film.

Story  :

Satyam ( Mohan lal ) establishes an auto garage in Hyderabad in early 1980's.  He is a good hearted man who always helps the needy.  Soon he becomes a leader in their locality.  All the people in neighbourhood approach him for help and he also "repairs" ( baskes up ) men who do wrong to the people.,  Very soon his garage turns into a grievance cell and he goes to any extent for justice. In this process, he loses his brother ( Rahman ).  Thereafter Rahman's son Anand ( NTR ) was shifted to Mumbai by his uncle for keeping him away from these gang wars.

After many years, Anand makes an entry as an environmental researcher who does not hesitate to go to any extent for protecting environment.  He comes to Hyderabad for a project and accidentally gets into scuffle with members of Janatha Garage.  He closes down the illegal quarry of Satyam's son Raghava ( Unni ).  Satyam invites him to join Janatha Garage as he was impressed by Anand's sincere approach. Satyam impressed by Anand's aggressive nature, asks him to take over the garage?  Why? What is the motive?  What changes have occured i Janatha Garage after entry of Anand?  Will Satyam and Anand know about their blood relation?  See Janatha Garage movie to know more!!

Performance of the artists  :

NTR has performed excellently in this movie.  He showed his maturity when he does the scene of Samantha leaving him.

Mohan Lal is another great actor but does not have much scope for giving his excellent performance but his presence mesmerizes the audience.  Samantha and Nithya Menon are a waste in the movie.  The role of Sai Kumar is laughable.  The character of Ajay lacks proper depth and the villainity done by Unni and Sachin failed to give desired results.

Devayani has done well and Kajal Agarwal's item song comes at wrong time but she tried to spice up the screen with ample skin show.

Technical aspects of the movie  :

The movie has high technical values with best camera work by famous cinematographer.  Much of the film is shot at Janatha Garage set and even Mumbai set props are eye-catching.  The music of Devisri Prasad is OKay.  A few songs are good.  The editing is bad.  The fights are routine.  Dialogues are good but direction and narration is not good.

Some of the highlights of the movie are   ....
NTR’s performance
NTR and Mohanlal’s scenes
GHMC Episode
Some dialogues

And the drawbacks are c
Dull first half
Heroines with no proper roles
Lack of emotional quotient
Weak Villain
Predictability
Lengthy runtime

Overall analysis of the movie  :

First things first, 'Janatha Garage' has its moments but audience will feel a bit disappointed with routine story & screenplay. Although 'Mirchi' & 'Srimanthudu' have age-old stories, Its the lively narration which made a huge difference. In the case of 'Janatha Garage', There are few shortcomings which could lower the impact. Terrific performances of NTR & Mohan Lal, Few Emotional Highs, Meaningful Dialogues, Rocking Music & Stunning Visuals are the positives of 'Janatha Garage'. On the flip side, The momentum keeps fluctuating and movie ends on a low note.

Koratala Siva takes a bit of time to get into the actual story and nothing much happens in the First Half. While NTR's characterization is unique, Director failed to make the most out of an actor of Mohan Lal's stature. Screen time of NTR is less in First Half & the romantic track isn't promising. There wasn't comic relief either. The first meeting of NTR-Mohan Lal in the pre-Interval is a treat to watch. Performances and Dialogues in this sequence were mesmerizing and sets the perfect tone for latter half.

About 40 minutes in the Second Half takes the film to the next level. Particularly, The episode of Rajeev Kanakala. Both NTR & Koratala excelled here. However, Director failed to continue this emotional high thereafter and lost the track in the last half hour.

It must be said that Villains couldn't match up to NTR & Mohan Lal. Still, Two Action Sequences elevating Heroism works in favor of the movie. The long-drawn Climax is a big let down. Overall, 'Janatha Garage' manages to be a Just OK film.

Manamantha Movie Review - Beautiful and touching !!

Movie Name  :  Manamanthaa
Rating            :  3.00 / 5
Starring         :
Mohanlal, Gauthami, Viswant, RainaRao, Anisha, Nasser, Urvasi and others

Story              :  Chandrasekhar Yeleti
Music             :  Mahesh Shankar
Cinematography :
Rahul Shrivastav
Editing            :  G.V. Chandrasekhar
Producer         :  Sai Korrepati
Screen play & Direction :  Chandrasekhar Yeleti
Date of Release  :
August 5, 2016

Chandrasekhar Yeleti has created a mark of his own on the industry with his unique films such as "Aithe", "Anukokunda Oka Roju", "Okkadunnadu"  and "saahasam".  The audience expect something afresh every time  project of this sensible film maker hits the screens.  After a long gap of 3 years, Yeleti has arrived with "Manamantha" starring Mohal Lal, Gauthami, Viswanath and Rajna Rao in lead roles.

Yeleti created a buzz by bringing Malayalam Super Star Mohan Lal to Tollywood to play a lead role in hiis movie "Manamantha".  The trailers also seems promising  Let us see what is the story of this movie..

Story  :

Sai Ram (Mohanlal) who works in a supermarket is always in need of money as kids are growing and expenses are increasing at home. He expects promotion at his job but sees a hurdle in the form of another assistant manager. Sai Ram’s a silly and greedy act to move further in his career puts him in a danger.
On the other hand, there is a small kid Mahitha (Raina) who is studying 7th standard develops bond with a poor child. Her eagerness to help this poor child get education at her school also lands her in trouble.
An intelligent college student Abhi (Viswant) gets distracted from studies when he falls for the charm of a beauty (Anisha Ambrose).
A middle class woman Gayathri (Gauthami) who is stuck in mundane life gets an opportunity to better her life with the chance encounter of her guru (Gollapudi). How these four individual stories end? What incidents connect them?
Performance of the artists :
Mohanlal, the seasoned actor of Malayalam industry, is pillar to the movie. He has given the best performance. Although his dialogue delivery in Telugu is not perfect, he has proved again why he is called one of the best actors in India. In the final emotional sequences we see the real actor in him.
Gauthami as middle class wife is perfect. Vishwant and child artiste Raina Rao have also played their roles well.
The small kid belonging to a poor household is so endearing with his performance. Vennela Kishore as a Teacher comes up with another fine act.
Technical Aspects  of the movie :
Like in all Chandrasekhar Yeleti’s movies, “Manamantha” has high technical values. Cinematography is superb.
The movie has shown the other side of Hyderabad – middle-class lanes, not-so-posh areas realistically. Art work is first rate. The movie has one only one song but the overall background score is good. Sai Korrepati’s production values are top class.
Some of the high lights of the movie are
Emotional  scenes
Mohanlal and Gauthami’s performance
Last emotional episode
Climax
Different narration
Drawback:
Slow pace
Lack of entertainment
Overall Analysis of the Movie :
“Manamantha” is a human drama with simple emotions and subtle sensibilities. It follows the journey of four people at different phases in their life. Four different and distinct stories, different paths are interlinked in the end with a neat twist. Though the twist is not hard to expect, it has actually enhanced the emotional buildup in the ending of the movie.
Director Chandrasekhar Yeleti who is known for making thrillers like “Aithey”, and “Anukokunda Oka Roju” has shown that he is also at ease directing movies with emotional content.
Stories about different people and all of them are getting linked in the end with one incident or situations is seen in films like “Chandamama Kathalu”, but Yeleti treads different path here.
The four people and four different stories are linked with a completely new twist, which is what the movie’s core emotion is all about. Like in “Drushyam”, the final episodes of the story leaves a lump in our throat.
Like most people in regular life, Mohanlal is shown here taking “hand loans” from colleagues, becoming selfish when an opportunity comes to become a manager from asst manager. This greediness lands him in a big trouble and when he comes to know the situation has gone out of hands, the way Mohanlal repents, and goes through emotional upheaval are presented beautifully.
Apart from Mohanlal’s thread, the other beautiful thread is of Raina Rao who played the role of a good-hearted kid who lands in trouble helping a poor kid. Raina and the poor kid both have played so naturally. Yeleti has shown his maturity and mark here in these sequences.
While Gauthami’s thread is interesting it has been stretched beyond a point and the talk about Saree’s etc are unwarranted. But one scene involving Gauthami is funny when she goes to Koti to save Rs 400 and ends up spending more than that from her purse. The typical middle-class situation is portrayed funnily.
The thread of Abhi (played Vishwanth) and his romance with Anisha Amrose gives you feel of déjà vu.
While the movie is laced with emotional scenes, all these are stored in the second half. The first half of the movie is not that convincing though it sets up the mood. On the downside, the film is excruciatingly slow.
Despite these minor flaws, “Manamantha” is one of the best made emotional dramas in the recent times in Tollywood. Director Chandrasekhar Yeleti has proved again that he is a director with a different approach.
All in all, watch the film for its emotional content, good and earnest scenes and superb performances from the lead actors.

Pelli Choopulu Movie Review - Refreshing romantic comedy

Pelli Choopulu Review
Movie Name  :  Pelli Choopulu

Vijay Devarakonda, Ritu Varma, Nandu, Priyadarshi, Abhay, Anish Kuruvilla, Padmaja and others

Story              :  Tharun Bhascker
Music             :  Vivek Sagar
Cinematography : Nagesh Banell

Editing            :  Ravi Teja
Producer        :  Raj Kandukuri
Screen play & Direction :  Tharun Bhascker
Date of Release  :  29th JUly, 2016

The trailer of "Pelli Choopulu" has created good buzz and positive vibrations and kept increasing hype.  This is a romantic comedy movie written and directed by Tharun Bhascker.  Vijay and Ritu varma played the lead roles.  The film was released worldwide on 29th July, 2016 and was a successful movie.  Let us see what is the story of the movie "Pelli choopulu".

Story  :

Prashant ( Vijay ) obtains his degree writing supplementaries two years after completion of Engineering.  Chitra ( Ritu Varma ) is an MBA graduate who wishes to be independent.  Their parents wants them to get married and so arranges pelli choopulu.  Prashant wants to marry for dowry while Chitra is in no mood for a relationship.

Prashant, Chitra and a small boy are stranded in a room where they were asked to talk to each other.  The door gets jammed and the room gets locked.  Prashant and Chitra talk about each other.  Chitra tells Prashant that she is not interested to get married and she came for pelli choopulu due to her dad's pressure.   She tells him that she wants to start a food truck business.

As the conversation between them continues, they realize that they have lot of things in common. Just them the family comes in and gives a surprise that Prashant and his family are in wrong place.  They are actually supposed to meet some other family.

So he decides to meet another girl.   But there also he gets disappointed as his would be father in law asks him to start up his own business first and then ask for his daughter's hand.  Left with no choice, Prashant seeks Chitra's help and starts a food truck business in partnership.

Chitra should have been happy that the pelli choopulu is over and what she wants is happening.  But that is not what is going on in her mind.  Does she forget Prashant?  or has she fallen in love with him?  Will that love take her back to Prashant, the guy who has no goals in life...  Rest of the story is as to how this couple solve their problems and get united at the end.

Performance of the artists :

Vijay who actedin a small role in Nani starrer "Yevade Subrahmanyam" has played the lead role with right kind of attitude  He has gone to the next level and given an impression that he is well experienced.  He portrayed his role as a lazy boy with ease.  There is no artificiality in his acting.  Audience will see Prashant and not Vijay in the movie.  This youngster managed to achieve this thing which happens rarely in his first two films itself.,

Ritu Varma should be complimented as she has done a fine job and played her role nicely.  Even though this is not a regular heroine role, she pulls it off perfectly. Her role reminds us of Rupa played by Kamalini Mukherjee in "Anand".  Usually telugu heroines do not get a chance to play such strong roles.  Ritu is very lucky in that aspect.  Lot of care has been taken for her looks and body language. Definitely her performance was excellent.

Priyadarsi ( Hero's friend ) excelled in his role with Telengana dialect.  He is a new actor who brought laughs with his comedy.  The other guy who played the friend role is fine.  Nandu, Anish Kuruvilla, Gururaj Manepalli & The Actor who appeared as Hero's Father were flawless.

Date of Release  :  26th August, 2016

"100 Days of Love"  is a Malayalam romantic comedy movie written and directed by Jenus Mohamed.  This film was released in Malayalam language in 2015 world wide.  It received positive reviews from critics.

Dulquer Salman and Nithya Menon have become hit pair with the movie "Ok Bangaram" all over South India.  So the Malayalam film is dubbed into Telugu in order to capatilize on that craze.

In order to encash on the hit combination of Nithya Menon and Dulquer Salmaan,  the makers of the Malayalam movie "100 Days of Love" dubbed the movie into Telugu with the same title and released the movie on 26th August, 2016.  Let us see how the film is going to be..

Story  :

The story of the film is about a writer called Rao Gopal Rao ( Dulquer Salmaan ) who is a rich person who leads life on his terms rather than bothering about family.  He works as a writer for an English daily, but aims to become a Comic Cartoonist.  He faces few problems due to his aggressive nature.  One fine day he accidentally meets Savithri ( NIthya Menon )
in a taxi and it is like love at first site for him.  Savithri disappears in a flash after their first meeting.  So he starts searching for her and after lot of difficulties manages to find her.

Gopal goes in search of Savithri and he comes to know that Savithri is already engaged to some other guy.  What did Gopal do then? Did he sacrifice his love or won the heart of Savithri?    Gopal also comes to know that Savithri is his old school mate whom he hated all the life.   The rest of the story is how Gopal changes his mind and manages to win Savithri who is already engaged to the other guy...

Performance of the artists  :

It is always a great pleasure to watch the excellent actors like Dulquer Salman and Nithya Menon together.  They gave a matured performance and the sequence looked natural.    In the role of Hero's friend, Sekhar Menon earns good marks.  He did a nice job during funny scenes and touches the hearts of audience with emotional sequence in climax.  Vineeth made a comeback after a longer gap and he did well.  Rahul Madhav is perfect as arrogant guy.

Dulquer Salman comes out with matured action similar to "Ok Bangaram" movie.  In the role of a writer whose creative urges ( he wants his comic strip on Obama  to be published in the news paper he works for ) don't get fulfilled.  As Savithri's fiance, he is very convincing.

Next comes Nithya Menon whose performance was excellent.  Though she has very less to do in first half, she covers things well during the second half.  The second half has some breezy and romantic moments which can go well with youngsters.  The last fifteen minutes of the film is a bit interesting.   Pradeesh Varma's cinematography cackles up the screen.  The lighting and camera angles are beautiful.  Back ground music is not bad but OK.

Technical aspects of the movie :

The production values are just average as the film looks quite dull.  Dubbing is very good but the background music is not that much good.  Telugu dialogues are written nicely.  Editing is not good.  Director has done a very ordinary job.  He just took the lead pair and played around their stardom.  Had he introduced the heroine a little earlier and made things breezy, things could have become a little better.

Overall analysis of the movie :

The basic story of "100 Days of Love "  is nothing different from hundreds of routine love stories we have seen in the past.  For a love story, it is very important to see whether the audience get connected with the lead pair and does it have required feel to move the viiewers.  This movie is successful in these aspects.

Even though the movie is predictable,  matured performance and the feel-good factor works in the favour of the movie.   The slow narration could test the patience of the audience.  Though Climax is similar to what audience would expect, Director succeeded in making the viewers sit in their seats till the very end.

Babu Bangaram movie review - Babu boredom

Image result for babu bangaram posterMovie Name  :  Babu Bangaram
Rating            :  2.25 / 5

Venkatesh, Nayanathara, Savukaru Janaki, Sampath, Vennela Kishore, Prudhvi, Brahmanandam, Posani Krishna Murali and others
Banner           : Sithara Entertainments
Story              :  Dasari Maruthi

Cinematography : Richard Prasad
Editing            :  Uddhav
Producer        :
Suryadevara Naga Vamsi, PDV Prasad
Screen play & Direction :  Dasari Maruthi

Date of Release  :  12th August, 2016

Venaktesh who is in his 50's wanted to slow down and it took nearly one year before signing "Babu Bangaram" movie.   So there was so much curiosity about the movie and had good expectations.  Audience were curious about the story and thought that it would be special because this movie was done by Venkatesh after a long gap.  When the trailer came, it has proved that "Bobbili Raja" is back once again.  Director Maruthi is also on the success track in recent times.  He recently had a hit movie with Nani.  So all these factors created a great hype around this movie.  Is it really that much worth to create a hype?  Let us see what is there in the story of "Babu Bangaram".

Story  :

ACP   Krishna ( Venkatesh ) is a kind hearted man and he comes to know about Sailaja ( Nayana Thara ) and her problems.  Her father Sastry ( JP) is hiding some where as a goon (Sampath) is after him  Sailaja runs her family with her catering business and faces some issues.  ACP Krishna introduces himself as a common man and starts helping her.  They develop a bond and she accepts his love.  But actually Krishna has another agenda in his mind.  She comes to know that ACP Krishna wants to send her father to jail who is accussed in a murder case.  Why her father is absconding? Did he really commit the crime.  Does Sailaja realize the intention of ACP Krishna? Grab the tickets of "Babu Bangaram" to find the answers!!.

Performance of artists  :

Venkatesh has been playing middle aged guy roles in recent times.  But he is now back playing a young role.  As ACP Krishna he has shown his fitness and tough body.  He has exhibited comedy as well in this movie with assured manner.

Nayanathara role is quite boring.  She is not seen much in the movie but she looks perfect for Venkatesh.  She neither impressed with glamour nor performance.  It is the performance of Prudhvi that entertains the audience.  Vennela Kishore is a waste.  Posani has done his best in the second half.  Sampath as a villain is OKay.  Rest of the actors have nothing much to do.

Technical aspects of the movie  :

Maruthi has made the movie with good production values.  The songs composed by Ghibran were good.  Even the background music is quite good.  Richard Prasanna's camera has given the movie a bright look.  Dialogues are good.  Editing is good.  But this movie is the weakest i the career of Maruthi both as a Director as well as Writer.  However, Maruthi score heavily as he ends the last fifteen minutes with some good dose of comedy and brings vintage Venky back.

On the whole, Babu Bangaram showcases Venky in yet another interesting role after a long time. Venky’s performance in various shades and decent comedy during the first half are huge assets
